North Downs Run

 What a scorcher!

The 41st staging of the North Downs Run saw another 30 degrees plus run – it’s a gruelling event at the best of times but particularly so in those conditions.  Nevertheless 413 brave souls completed the event and we are pleased to report that the ones who found it all too much are all safe and well now.

Here is a link to the results – North Downs Run

A full report and photos will follow, but meanwhile head over to our North Downs Run Facebook Page for photos and comments.

Next year’s event is 28th June 2026 – hope to see you then!

Facebook Page – Istead & Ifield Harriers Running Club Gravesend

Like many clubs, the Istead and Ifield Harriers Facebook page is a Private Group, just for club members.

However, we have been increasingly aware that this means anyone who looks for details of our club on Facebook will not be able to see very much.

We have therefore set up another page – Istead & Ifield Harriers Running Club Gravesend.  This is a public page and is regularly updated so people can see what we’ve been up to.

This is the link to the page – we very much hope you will like it!

Junior parkrun

Many of our club members have come to us via parkrun and of course we are keen to foster the next generation of runners!
So we’re delighted to have made a donation to Gravesend junior parkrun, helping them purchase new equipment for their weekly events. This donation was made possible by the surplus made from last year’s North Downs Run.

North Downs Run – charitable donations

Every year, the North Downs Run donates its surplus after covering costs to local charities.
We’re thrilled to announce that this year we’ve donated an incredible £5,300 to the following charities
Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund
Ellenor
Darent Valley Hospital Charity
Gravesend Junior parkrun
Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Services
Slide Away
Cyclopark

North Downs Run Race Director Sally George and Club President Graham Green present
cheques to some of the selected charities.

Mob Match

Each year a ‘mob match’ is held between Istead & Ifield Harriers, Gravesend Roadrunners and Larkfield AC.  This year it was Istead’s turn to host the match.

Having moved our HQ since we last hosted the event, a new course had to be devised.  A lovely 6 mile course around Cliffe Pools was mapped out and runners were lucky enough to have beautiful running conditions and a stunning sunset.

With superior numbers and the first 7 runners home, Istead once again retained the trophy.  The run was followed by a post-race buffet at the Cliffe Village Club, supplied by Istead & Ifield Harriers.
