Cross Country Season and Race List

The club takes part in  both the Kent Fitness League and Kent League Races, plus various other Championships races through the Autumn/Winter.  If you want to find out more, view our Cross Country Page for dates.  If you have not run Cross Country before, speak to one of the committee and they will be able to help you.

Also here is the  October Race List  which gives you details of all the races over the coming month.  Thanks Sue Beecham for pulling this together.  All you need to do now is get planning and training!

Shorne Woods 5

An impressive 42 Istead & Ifield Harriers took part in the Shorne Woods 5 Miler on 22nd September,  a tough off-road race on the ‘undulating’ paths of Shorne Woods Country Park.

The Club came away with most of the prizes – 1st and 2nd Males – Paul Jones and Aaron Pritchard, 1st and 2nd Females – Victoria Wright and Jackie King, the team prize (Paul, Aaron and Victoria) and age group prizes for  Jackie King, Paul Jones and Maggie Harris.  Not a bad morning’s work

August activity

August was a pretty good month for Istead runners!

18 Istead Runners took part in the East Peckham 10k on 4th August , with Barbara Ockendon, Trevor Edgley, Jan Giles and Jackie King all winning prizes for their age group and several other runners bagging PBs!

6 runners took part in the Mount Ephraim 10k on 18th August – with Istead runner Paul Jones winning the race in 36.35 and, together with Aaron Pritchard and Dan Walsh, picking up  the male team prize.

A week later, on a scorching Bank Holiday Monday, 5 Istead runners completed the Canterbury Half, with Ed Bovingdon coming in first in a blistering 1:17:25.  But don’t think Istead are just about winning races.  Barry Marsh – GP and genuine Samaritan – helped a young first timer who was suffering from asthma to complete the run.  As another Istead runner commented  – some things are more important than fast times.

Race Results – North Downs Run 2019

The results are available here

Once again, the North Downs Run was a great success, with positive feedback from the runners – one runner even coining a new word to describe it – brutiful!

The race was won by Istead & Ifield’s Ed Bovingdon in a time of 1:59:40- the only runner to break the two-hour barrier.

First lady home – for the 4th consecutive year – was Kent AC’s Amy Clements in a time of 2:14:33.
